I just decided to laser engrave my egret drawing into a computer case. It has a really great crackle texture to it, and looks good in bright sunlight. Unfortunately the computer case already had a few scratches so it's not as pristine as it might be, but turned out OK. I'm pleased. :)
I did manage to try a new trick as well. My laser seems to leave a little pin-prick in the corner you start it in, even if there is no design there to be engraved. It does this all the time, and the prick is about 5ms at 100% power. Enough to really be noticeable. I found this unacceptable, so I taped a hunk of a leftover gift card into the corner to soak up the unwanted laser mark. Worked a charm.
